Miraflores Lawn Bowls Club is set in the delightful surroundings of Miraflores Urbanisation in Mijas Costa on the Costa del Sol. The Club enjoys the facility of two pristine 8 rink greens, bar, clubroom and changing rooms and is surrounded by very attractive gardens.

The idea of a complex consisting of a Sport Centre for Tennis and Bowls was included in the plans for the development and was built in about 1980 by the developers of Miraflores Urbanisation. This was a reflection of the philosophy of the architect of the development that there should be plenty of open space and greenery for all to enjoy.

The Entrance, Bar and Terrace

Originally the bowls section consisted of a single green, a bar and a golf shop. There were also 2 tennis courts adjacent to the bar and a further tennis centre next door consisting of 3 tennis courts and a pool with bar.  By 1992 the synthetic carpet on the bowling green required replacing and the management of Miraflores were reluctant to make the necessary investment. They felt that tennis would be more advantageous and less costly. At the time there was only a small bowling membership of 35 people but the members negotiated a Lease for the site and each contributed to the cost of laying a new carpet.   A year later the Freehold became available and again the Members raised the money to purchase the Eight Rink Green and Two Tennis Courts.

The Club Room

In the year 2000 it was decided to remove the Tennis Courts and lay a new bowling rink which was done using the latest laser technology and in March 2006 the base of the original green was re-laid using the same technology providing us with the best bowling surfaces on the Costa del Sol.   The present Club has a fluctuating membership of 65-70 with ages ranging from 45-88 who all enjoy their Bowls.

The Club and its members have experienced success in many prestigious events over the years producing along the way the Spanish National Men's Champion, 6 Champion of Champions, added to which several members have been selected to take part in International Bowls.

The club welcomes casual bowlers both playing amongst themselves and also joining in club roll-ups and our fun events such as the annual Charity Day. We have many bowlers who return on holiday to enjoy the facilities year after year, and also longer stay visitors and residents who simply want to enjoy a game in beautiful surroundings. Beginners are also welcome and tuition is available to help new bowlers get a good start to making the most of their enjoyment of the sport all they have to do is call in or telephone Carol or Grant to make arrangements.

The club house has been extended and seats approximately 30 to lunch if required, although usually our weather is good enough for lunch to be taken outside on the terraces in front of the bar and beside the green (when we have accommodated up to 100 for lunch).  The bar and catering facilities are currently run by Carol & Grant Frost on a franchise basis. They have built a reputation on the Costa del Sol of offering high quality food and drink at reasonable prices. They are also happy to offer an external party catering service within the local vicinity and are always happy to discuss your requirements to see if they can assist.
